I am still on the bulgur train, I honestly love the stuff. Loads of people have tried the Bulgur Jollof recipe we shared weeks back and they all loved it. It’s the perfect replacement for rice and a lot of other things. I created a breakfast Bulgur recipe, I really wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out but I absolutely loved it. The inspiration came from overnight Oats (I will be sharing a recipe soon).
When compared with Oatmeal, Bulgur has a little bit more calories about 27 calories more per cup. However, Bulgur has significantly more Fiber which will definitely keep you fuller longer. Bulgur also has less sugar and less fat.
Do try the recipe, I am very sure you will love it. I used a Jar to save prepare the recipe,
Ingredients:
- 1/3 Cup Bulgur Wheat
- 1 Cup milk
- 1 Tablespoon Chia Seed (Optional)
- 1 Tablespoon shredded coconut
- 1 Banana (cut up)
- Fruit (whatever is in season) (cut up
Direction :
- Pour bulgur, chia seed and coconut flakes into a jar or dish with a fitting lead
- Heat up the cup of milk (Microwave for 2 minutes or boil it stovetop)
- Pour over hot milk and stir to combine
- Top with Banana and another fruit of choice
- Place mix in the fridge overnight
- Combine Mix in the morning, warm up for 1 minute and enjoy the pure healthy deliciousness.
Can I use flax seed in place of chai?
So I dont have to cook the bulgur with?
no, you don’t. The hot milk softens the bulgur.

So Bougie and fabulous. Please can you describe how chia seeds taste? i have been seeing it more these days but i have not been courageous enough to try it.
hahah. I found it almost tasteless on its own actually, it’s one of those things that absorb the flavorful of whatever you add to it.
Again another very creative recipe and it looks delicious.
Thanks!
