Honestly your blog is the best thing ever, I am Nigerian but was born and raised abroad and didn’t really learn how to make many of the dishes you have featured. I have made a few dishes following your recipe and even my mother doesn’t believe I made them lol. Thank you so much for helping people like me learn how to make our traditional foods.

Can I eliminate or substitute the crayfish. We can not any kind of shellfish and I’m looking for ways to naija foods without them. Any help would be great.

You can use ground up smoked fish as an alternative.

Thanks for this video, its very helpful. So you don’t use tomatoe puree in your Moin Moin then? What can I use as alternative to palm oil(allergic)

    • 9jafoodie November 17, 2015 at 7:41 pm - Reply

hello Femi- i have never used tomato puree. regular vegetable oil or butter will work in place of palm oil.

Thanks for this wonderful recipe. Pls i will like to know the quantity of water to put in the mixture in order to make it soft when you are cooking with black eyed beans. Also can one put the mixture into a food processor when you dont have a mixer. Cheers!

    • 9jafoodie July 26, 2015 at 7:30 am - Reply

Please use the water to beans ratio specified in the recipe, the type of beans doesn’t matter. A food processor isn’t designed to puree, a blender will give you better result.
