I love this blog so much. I’m undergoing Nigerian food withdrawal as a student in China with student-sized pockets and the language barrier makes it near impossible to find similar foodstuffs to make the dishes I love. Very sad.😢😢 but this blog gives me hope

Awwww pele. I am sure you will find ways to reinvent some dishes using available ingredients. I actually find Asian ingredients very similar to ours

I’m in the cold north of the uk and I made okra soup with chinese fermented black soybean instead of iru. It is the main ingredient of black bean sauce. Though it is not as bitter as iru, it was quite delicious!

I really enjoy this website. As a college student with not a lot of time on my hands and my mom states away, it’s wonderful to start teaching myself how to make the Nigerian meals I loved growing up at home. Makes me feel like when I go home I’ll be the one cooking this time!

Thanks for this website, it is really educative and interesting. I love the moimoi roll up recipe. I am still looking through the recipes to try out.
What do you mean by nigerian sauce.
I would like to also suggest that the tilapia pepper soup can be cooked with spags. this is good people on a diet or when breaking fast and it is very filling and delicious.

Nigerian sauce is the stew base used in most Nigerian recipes, you may find detailed recipe here . I have never thought to add spaghetti to peppersoup, thanks for the suggestion.
