Nike is 42 and a mother. She lost 15kg (34lbs) on LIN

Have you ever come across someone so impressive in their pursuit of self love that they actually inspire you in all aspects of your life? that’s me and this incredible lady right here. Her commitment to achieving her goal on the Lose It Nigerian program is inspirational. It’s not surprising that she has succeeded.

Read my chat with her and know that this could be you!

Q: Tell us a little about yourself?

A: My name is Nike Awofeso, I’m a 42 year old wife and mum to a gorgeous 13 year old princess. I enjoy learning through adventures so my main hobbies are planning and seeking adventures. I am very passionate about travel, photography and love to document and tell stories with my photographs. I love food so much and I enjoy cooking !

Q: Tell us about the journey that brought you this far. Did you always struggle with your weight or is it a result of a life event.

A: I have always struggled with my weight and as such tried all sorts of fad diets; I would lose weight and put it back on weeks after mainly because the diets were unsustainable and not suited to my lifestyle.

In 2012 I took ill and was diagnosed with Systemic lupus nephritis, it took a toll on my body so much I lost half of my body weight between 2012 and 2014 during which the illness was very active. I went from a uk 16 to a uk size 8.

Thankfully my illness is under control and have been in remission since the end of 2014 however sadly I put a lot of weight back on, by the end of 2016 I had become a uk 14! I wasn’t happy about this and knew I had to do something real quick but I was really fed up of the deprivation diets, I came across Lin on Instagram did some research on it and thought to give it a try but had a few reservations initially which held me back.  I thought it was too cheap to be real and the testimonials were perhaps fake just like most of those slimming tea ads!..lol

On the 9th of January 2017 I took the plunge and started the Lose it Nigerian journey and it’s turned out to be the best decision I have made in a while, what I have got this far from Lin is much more than what I expected, imagined or paid for. It’s changed my life for the better!!

Q:How long have you been on the LIN journey and how much weight have you lost

A: It’s my 7th month on the journey, At the start I weighed 75kg and am currently 60kg. That’s a whooping 15kg /33.07lbs lost. I feel much better and most importantly all my routine medical tests have been coming through with positive results. My Nephrologist agreed to tapering my daily steroid tablet down this week with a plan to wean me off completely by October! My body is generally thankful and very kind to me.

I was a uk size 14 in January and now I have a nicely sculpted and toned size 8 body, how amazing is that!

Q: What is the one advice you have for anyone on the weightloss journey?

A: Well my advice would be to set realistic incremental goals, stay focused and committed to achieving those goals and most importantly have fun along the way and never compare your journey to anyone else’s
